The department was established in 1966/1967 AD and it is one of the main departments from which the college was formed since its inception. The department includes three important fields concerned with farm animals and poultry, namely:
Animal and poultry nutrition.
Animal and poultry physiology.
Animal and poultry inheritance.
One of the most important goals of the department is to graduate qualified agricultural engineers in these three fields, in addition to being an advisory body for the community by providing studies and technical reports for animal production projects through research and scientific studies. The department has scientific laboratories that can perform various analyzes (analysis and evaluation of feed, blood analysis, hormone analysis) The department also provides other services in the field of agricultural statistics and statistical analysis by computer by analyzing the results of experiments for faculty members and students of special studies and postgraduate studies.
The department included, during its long history, a group of distinguished professors and researchers from various scientific schools, who contributed to the development of the educational process in the department and the graduation of generations of agricultural engineers and master's students with a high level of scientific and professional competence.

Dr. Bashir Mohamed Bashir Sherif
Dr. Bashir Mohamed Bashir Sherif has been a faculty member in the Department of Animal Production since 2006 and obtained a doctorate in the field of poultry physiology in 2018. He teaches Zoology, poultry physiology, animal physiology and hatchery management. He is interested in nutrition and physiology research in poultry and has many published papers in this field.
